projects and picnics

Out with the old.....

.....in with the new.

Carl made it to Logan and we spent a lovely afternoon with our friends the Cannons.
While jeeping through some back country we stopped in Huntsville.....

.....and found the home where David O. McKay lived.

Megan and I got to attend Women's Conference in Provo.....

While Carl got to spend time in Denver.

The furniture arrived....now for pictures and tables and lamps....a work in progress.

And to add to the home improvements we are trying to plant trees to make a 'natural fence' line.   I think it's going to work pretty good.

fun with family

On February 14 one of my dreams came true....a trip with my 4 daughters.  We chose Arizona for a spa week-end.  Here we are meeting up at the Phoenix airport.

First things first....we headed to the spa to make our schedule for the week-end.

Yes, there was lots of silliness
This is just one of the views from one of the pools.  I have always loved waterfalls, and the sound of the water  was just as relaxing as the spa.

I love hanging out with this wonderful group.  And it's especially cool because we are related.

A couple of weeks after our spa week-end Katie brought Cory to Utah so we could finally meet him.  It was such fun having them here in Logan for the week-end.

The day after Katie and Cory headed back to Oregon, Carl and I drove a truck of furniture out to Jen and Mike in Colorado.  We got to watch Lucy at her Karate class.  We love it that she loves having Grandpa and Grandma follow her everywhere.

Grandpa got to swim with Reid during swimming lessons.

Carl had to head back to KL but I still have Megan and family close.  For St. Patrick's Day Megan prepared a green meal....it was lots of fun but a little freaky eating green mashed potatoes.  I still had seconds.

Next adventure....Washington DC with my Mom.  Britt calls it 'her' city and she did a great job showing us all around.   She wore us out and she said we wore her out.  It was awesome.

I even got to see some Rothko at the National Art Museum.

Mom got to get her picture with Lincoln

We got to feel the peace at the Washington D.C. temple.

We got to Arlington Cemetery just in time to see the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Britt drove us out to Mt. Vernon to see George Washington's Estate and learn some interesting history. You can't help but enjoy history in a whole new light when you get to spend some time in D.C. and the surrounding area.
Thank you so much Britt.

Home again.  I love the travels and the adventure but I also love coming back to Logan.  I caught this moment just after an early evening rain a few days ago.  It doesn't get much more beautiful than this.

Christmas fun and 2 birthdays

Time for a little catch up......

We keep wondering when we are going to second guess our decision to move to Logan....but we keep finding reasons to love it here.

Our  two grandsons....Tanner and Reid.

This is what it's all about.

Sledding in our back yard on Christmas day.

All together for Christmas dinner.

Family pictures in the snow.  Burrrrrrrrrr!

Celebrating Lucy's third birthday at Disneyland.

Katie, Jen and I help Lucy celebrate her birthday in Disneyland.

Tanner turns one.  It's so fun to be close enough to help him celebrate his big day.

Malaysia Travels

I have been home a week from my travels to Malaysia.  Last night was the first night I got a full night's sleep.  Jet lag is not fun.  While in Malaysia Katie came to visit.  After exploring all our favorite places in Kuala Lumpur we headed to Bali.  It's hard to choose which pictures to share on the blog so I have chosen some random samples of the trip....each one holding a fond memory.

Last week I got to visit my Mom in Panguitch.  This is the view a few miles up the road.    The beautiful scenes all around never grow old.

I decided I needed a Budda picture in the Red Rocks.  I'll admit I was a little nervous getting up and down, but Budda pics are the latest favorite pose of Britt and me.

Mom always has a quilt going.

I was so happy that the timing worked out just right for me to attend Ryan King's wedding reception in Provo.  This is Susan and me....it was so much fun to surprise her.  We knew each other in China.  I love renewing friendships.

Tanner as Harry.

Going to the pumpkin walk is especially fun when you have a cute little grandson to go along with.

Cute little Joseph family.

Madagascar scene.  Lots of creative ways to use pumpkins.

This is what I woke up to this morning.  I still like the snow.  Next week I will be in the tropics of Malaysia so I am especially enjoying this weather.  I love the Fall.

Today is our oldest child's 31st birthday.  Happy Birthday again Jen.  I know she has aged some,  but Carl and I don't look 31 years older!?!?
